On the Road

We recently attended the 2008 ASI Convention in Tampa, Fl. We had a great time and met a lot of great people.

If you are interested in meeting a variety of business minded individuals and getting to know the many ministry opportunities out there, I would recommend going next year. Next year's convention will be held in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Right Pair

Many of you are at a time in your lives where important decisions happen every day! Whether you are choosing a major or deciding what to do after graduation; it's stressful. I want this blog to be a place to find tips and insights, but also a place to feel free to ask questions, start discussions...whatever!

Also, check back OFTEN for updates and for pictures from events I attend...career fairs, conferences, etc., where YOU might be featured.
Hope you enjoy!

In the Shoes of an HR Specialist

I thought it would be cool to meet some of the interesting and awesome people I work with. The first person I have chosen to interview is my boss, and all around cool gal, Susie.

Susie started working at AHS right after she graduated from Southern Adventist University in 2003. She just passed per 5 year anniversary!

She had been told by friends that AHS was a great place to kick start your career and that they were more than willing to work with students fresh out of college. She also found that her personal mission was much the same as AHS's mission.

Susie works in the Human Resources department as an HR Specialist. In a typical day, Susie touches all the different realms of HR. She is a liaison to the managers and employees as it relates to recruitment, unemployment, immigration, on-boarding, and employee relations.

She enjoys her job because every day is different and she never knows what to expect. The interaction she gets to have with so many employees is also fun!

When not at work Susie loves cooking, shopping, relaxing at cafes and going to the beach on the weekends. She also just became a new mommy to a boxer puppy named Nala.

Susie's future aspirations include driving through the beautiful Italian countryside with her husband and visiting Fran
ce.

Finding your fit isn't always simple

Have you ever felt like you didn’t know what to do with your life...what direction to take? I know I have.

Who would have thought, after five years of teaching 5th graders, that I would be working for Adventist Health System and finding it so fulfilling? I wouldn’t have.

I always assumed that AHS only offered opportunities for those in clinical fields. I never dreamed they had anything for me—a people person who loves being creative. But, here I am traveling, connecting with hundreds of people all over the US, and using the talents that God has given me!

The ministry opportunities are numerous. I go home everyday content and proud of what I do. I work with people that I love. Does it get any better than that?

Interested in joining our family? Don’t wait, email me then!
